Have you seen it? Have you felt it? Have you found it?
It's been so long since you started putting worlds down. Have you discovered it?
Remember what you told me when you started writing? You said you could create anything you wanted using words. From a land of knights and magic to a universe filled with all kinds of creatures, you made it. One after another, each world had its own unique rules, some crazier than others, but always consistent.
And then you took on your biggest journey yet. Do you remember? You said you wanted to make a world where anything could happen. A world with no rules, where unicorns can fly to other planets and wizard staves are sold as cue tips. A world where a worm is larger than a tree but smaller than a leaf. A world where everyone is always asleep, yet always awake. Do you remember what you called this world? You called it 'the land of do-as-you-please'.
Well? Did you make it? Was it difficult? Did anything happen in this world? And did you write about it? Is there even a story if there are no rules? Hmmm?

I'll tell you what I saw:
I saw a world filled with endless possibilities. And I saw it change, and move, and make things. On one occasion, it started inventing a universe larger than any other one. On another, it made a little kingdom and gave it knights and magicians. It made big things, small things, it even made a world much like itself. Every time I'd see it, I'd smile and say 'Hello!' and it would show me all that it had created since we last had spoken. And I would always tell it to keep going, and not give up like many before it. The land of do-as-you-please I saw is not the one you invented but rather, the one you used to make all your worlds. For we all have such lands to us but only some know how to truly navigate and use them. For the land of do-as-you-please in each of us needs not to be invented but rather discovered. And it's those who do it that live happily ever after.
