In his last years my father's congestive heart failure made him too weak to walk more than a few yards, so I used a wheelchair to get him to our season ticket seats in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion downtown. One of our last concerts together was an all-Mozart program, and as I wheeled him out of the hall he smacked his lips as though he had just tasted the most delicate ambrosia on earth and said, "That was so satisfying." That is exactly how I feel after writing something that brings positive feedback. Human communication is so difficult that when it is successful it is extremely -------, and "so satisfying."
