DOOMED TO WRITE BUT NOT TO SELL: CURRENTE CALAMO I have been a writer since university--essays, genre fiction, poetry; I try my hand at them all. On paper, I am witty, erudite, and urbane. In life, I am hushed, preferring to listen and observe; I lie in wait for the next anecdote I can use.
I have mostly solitary pusuits; and, with the exception of random trips with mates, I am mostly a loner. I treat myself to the cinema, a rare trip to the pub for a game of pool and a pint. I take peaceful walks to enjoy the fresh air and convince myself that I am not eccentric--See, I said, "Hello!" to those people; and, I'm surprised to feel glad that they responded. I do need other people, after all. That's me when in thrall of my muse; I'm also:
I am 5' 11" and carry a bit of extra weight. I played football until I broke my leg just before New Year's 2011. I enjoy playing poker--Dealer's Choice rather than Hold 'em. I enjoy watching dvd boxsets--Supernatural is my recent favourite--and films(I am partial to comedies). I have many favourite books and authors. My musical taste is almost omnivorous.Yes, I really prefer hanging out with a few mates than a mob; I don't do parties, either.
I tell rubbish jokes in the first person,but I'm not surprised at their chilly reception. I am supportive, and encouraging; if I can help, I will. I am generous to my mates. I procrastinate about everything. I love learning and applying the resulting knowledge.
Nevertheless, I feel like a 38-year-old anachronism. In a world teeming with technology and passive entertainment, I find myself sitting, indolently, just to think or zone out--all bemused, I stare at whatever is handy until the urge to create strikes.
My pen, when it touches paper, glides along mindlessly until sense emerges, and, finally, I have a viable platform on which to build. I finish; I edit ruthlessly; I judge. Done. My judgement is biased, so I seek help from pros. Here I am. I am in need of a meticulous editor. I will gladly
